**January 10th, 2023**

Its the second day of our winter vacation, and Im excited to write about my experiences in this English diary. Ive always found writing in English a great way to improve my language skills and document my daily life. Today, Im going to share some of the activities Ive been doing during this break, as well as my reflections on the new year.

**Morning Routine**

I started my day with a cup of hot milk and reading the morning news in English. Its a habit I picked up from my dad, who always stresses the importance of staying updated with current events. Todays headline caught my attention: \”The Impact of Technology on Education in the 21st Century.\” Its a topic that resonates with me, considering how much technology has transformed the way we learn, especially since the pandemic.

After breakfast, I headed to the study room in our living room, where I planned to practice my English speaking skills using an app called \”HelloTalk.\” This app allows me to exchange messages with native speakers from all over the world. Today, I had a conversation with a high school student from Canada named Emma. We discussed our favorite subjects in school and how we cope with online classes. It was interesting to hear her perspective and compare it to my own experience as a middle school student in China.

**Afternoon Adventure**

In the afternoon, my family and I decided to go for a walk in the nearby park. It was a perfect winter day—cold but sunny. As we walked, I couldnt help but feel grateful for simple pleasures like fresh air and natures beauty. I took out my phone to capture some photos and describe them in English later in my diary.

One of the highlights of the walk was seeing a group of ducks swimming gracefully on the frozen lake. I tried describing them to my mom in English: \”The ducks were gliding across the ice, their feathers glistening in the sunlight, creating a peaceful scene that reminded me of a painting.\” Its moments like these that inspire me to learn more about expressing emotions and details through language.

**Evening Reflection**

In the evening, I spent some time reviewing my English lessons from school and practicing my grammar with an online quiz. One of the exercises asked me to correct sentences with errors in subject-verb agreement. It was a challenge at first, but after a few attempts, I started to recognize patterns and felt a sense of accomplishment.

Later, I joined an online English club for teenagers from different parts of Asia. We shared our resolutions for the new year and how we planned to improve our English skills. Many of us mentioned the importance of daily practice and finding creative ways to use the language outside of the classroom. It was inspiring to hear everyones plans and feel connected despite being miles apart.

**Personal Goal**

As I close this entry, I want to set a personal goal for myself: to read at least one English novel during this vacation. Ive always been more comfortable with short stories and textbooks, but I believe reading a full-length novel will significantly enhance my vocabulary and comprehension. My first choice is \”To Kill a Mockingbird,\” a book recommended by one of my English teachers. Im looking forward to immersing myself in the story and learning from every page.

**Conclusion**

Today was filled with learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. I realized that improving my English doesnt just happen in structured lessons; its a continuous process that involves engaging with the world around me. My hope for this vacation is not only to enhance my language skills but also to gain a deeper appreciation for different cultures and ways of expressing myself.
